South Carolina 64, No. 9 Iowa State 60:
Sindarius Thornwell scored six of his 13 points in the final two minutes and added eight rebounds as the Gamecocks stunned the Cyclones in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Duane Notice led the way with 15 points and four assists for South Carolina (9-3), which picked up its seventh straight win. Tyrone Johnson added 13 points and seven rebounds as the Gamecocks piled up a 42-34 advantage on the glass.

Dustin Hogue and Jameel McKay each scored 15 points as Iowa State (10-2) had a seven-game winning streak come to an end. Monte Morris and Georges Niang scored 10 points apiece for the Cyclones.

Notice’s layup capped a 7-0 run and put South Carolina on top 56-51 with 4 1/2 minutes left. Niang knocked down a pair of free throws to cut it to a two-point deficit, but Thornwell converted a three-point play and added a jumper to make it a six-point gap with a minute left as the Gamecocks held off Iowa State.

South Carolina jumped out to a 17-6 lead and was up 12 with six minutes left in the first half before the Cyclones ended the period on a 15-4 run to go into the break down 36-35. Iowa State put together a 9-2 run to go up 51-49 with just under 6 1/2 minutes to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State entered the game averaging 84.5 points and had put up at least 83 points in each of the previous four contests. … The Gamecocks held their sixth straight opponent to 60 points or less. ... South Carolina opens SEC play against Florida on Wednesday while the Cyclones kick off their Big 12 slate by hosting Oklahoma State on Tuesday.
