LSU 87, Southern Miss 67: Jarrell Martin had 24 points and nine rebounds as the Tigers rolled to their seventh straight triumph - the longest streak in coach Johnny Jones' three-year tenure.

Jordan Mickey had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for the Tigers (10-2), who enjoyed an overwhelming 46-28 advantage on the boards in winning their sixth straight at home. Tim Quarterman had 12 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and six assists for LSU.

Chip Armelin had career highs of 28 points and six 3-pointers for the Golden Eagles (5-6), who have lost three straight. Armelin shot 10-of-16 but the only help he got was from Matt Bingaya (13) and Davon Hayes (11 points).

The Golden Eagles opened the scoring with consecutive 3-pointers from Hayes and Armelin and took a 15-8 edge on another shot from the arc from Hayes with 13:57 left in the half. The Tigers blew open the game with a 24-3 spurt midway through the half, getting seven points from Mickey and six from Martin, for a 41-22 lead with 3:32 left.

Armelin knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and a jumper as Southern Miss closed within 49-33 at the half, and Armelin opened the second half with a 3-pointer, but Martin's shot from the arc restored a 61-39 lead with 15:42 left. The Tigers relaxed a bit thereafter and Southern Miss got within 16 but couldn't mount an extended challenge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU PG Josh Gray returned after missing two games with an ankle injury and had six points, four assists and two steals. … Mickey recorded his seventh double-double of the season and Quarterman recorded his first career double-double … Mickey has 19 blocks in his last three games.
