Bowling Green 79, USF 70: Richaun Holmes scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to push the visiting Falcons past the Bulls.

Jehvon Clarke added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting off the bench for Bowling Green (7-3), which won on the road for the first time in nearly a month. Jovan Austin chipped in with 11 points and Zack Denny added 10 for the Falcons, who shot 40.9 percent from 3-point range, led by three makes apiece from Denny and Clarke.

Chris Perry had a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds for USF (6-7), which failed to build on a win over Southeastern Louisiana last time out and has not put together back-to-back wins since beating Hofstra and Jacksonville in late November. Anthony Collins contributed 20 points and six assists for the Bulls, who committed 12 turnovers.

After several lead changes throughout the early part of the opening 20 minutes, a bucket from Holmes answered a 3-pointer from Collins to give Bowling Green a 25-22 advantage with 5:32 to play in the first half. Collins responded with another 3-pointer to send USF on a 9-3 run, helping the Bulls to a 34-31 edge at the break.

The Falcons used a 22-12 surge, featuring 3-pointers from Clarke, Austin and Anthony Henderson, to start the second half to move ahead 53-46 with 11:21 to play but USF punched right back with a 13-7 run, led by five points from Collins, to pull within 60-59 with 6:27 to go. Seven points from Clarke highlighted the game-clinching 14-6 spurt for Bowling Green, which put an exclamation point on things with a 3-pointer from Denny and a dunk from Holmes in the waning minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bowling Green defeated USF for the first time in program history, shaking off losses in each of the last two seasons. ... The Bulls entered play tied for 30th in the nation with 5.4 blocks per game but managed only two, both from Perry, against the Falcons. ... Bowling Green shot 18-of-28 from the free throw line, as compared to 16-of-23 for USF, improving to 6-0 on the season when making more free throws than its opponent.
