Rutgers 59, Monmouth 58: Myles Mack hit a jumper as time expired to lift the visiting Scarlet Knights to a win over the Hawks.

Mack finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists and Bishop Daniels supplied 12 points and five assists off the bench for Rutgers (8-5). Kadeem Jack accounted for 11 points for the Scarlet Knights, who shot 40.7 percent from the floor.

Deon Jones scored 14 points and Justin Robinson added 13 points and six assists for Monmouth (5-7). Josh James contributed nine points and seven rebounds for the Hawks.

The Scarlet Knights led for the first two minutes and briefly during the last two minutes but in between, the edge belonged to the Hawks, who took their largest lead of the half at 19-12 on Nicholas' 3-pointer with 11:22 left. A three-point play by Mike Williams put Rutgers up 29-27 but Jones and Robinson each nailed a jumper to send Monmouth to halftime with a 31-29 advantage.

The Hawks scored the first five points out of the break and led by six on Jones' 3-pointer with 15:14 remaining, but couldn't shake free of the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers went ahead 57-55 on Mack's triple with 2:05 left, but Robinson responded with a jumper with 55 seconds left and a free throw with six seconds remaining to set up Mack's heroics.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mack, who was 7-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-9 from 3-point range, moved into 14th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,408 career points. ... The Scarlet Knights improved to 9-0 against the Hawks, who were playing at home for just the second time in the series. ... Monmouth shot 40.4 percent and made 10-of-13 free throws.
