LSU 71, Charleston 47: Jarell Martin recorded 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists as the Tigers rolled over the visiting Cougars to extend their winning streak to six.

Jordan Mickey contributed 15 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for LSU (9-2), which has won all six home games. Keith Hornsby had 11 points and Tim Quarterman scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds for the Tigers, who finished with a season-high 11 blocked shots.

Anthony Stitt led the way with 13 points while Canyon Barry scored 11 and registered four steals for Charleston (5-7), which lost its third straight contest. Donovan Gilmore chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Cougars, who shot 28.1 percent from the field.

Mickey scored six as LSU jumped to an early 12-3 advantage and Martin had seven points during a 14-2 burst that pushed the lead to 19 with just under seven minutes left in the first half. The Tigers held the Cougars to 7-of-31 shooting from the field in the opening 20 minutes to build a 35-15 lead at intermission.

Hornsby drained a 3-pointer after Mickey had blocked three shots on the other end of the floor to increase the lead to 45-21 with 13:35 left in the contest. The Tigers led by as much as 27 and cruised from there, finishing with 17 assists on 22 made field goals and a 43-34 edge on the boards.

GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU G Josh Gray, who is averaging 11.1 points, sat out his second straight game with an ankle injury. … Stitt moved within two points of becoming Charleston’s 28th player to reach 1,000 in his career. … Mickey, a sophomore, has 15 career double-doubles – six this season – and is third in school history with 138 blocks.
