Marquette 67, North Dakota 54:
Jajuan Johnson scored 19 points off the bench to lead the Golden Eagles to a home victory over pesky North Dakota.

Johnson also had three steals, three assists and three rebounds for Marquette (7-4), which won despite shooting 4-of-17 from 3-point range. Derrick Wilson added 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Golden Eagles, while Juan Anderson had eight points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

Estan Tyler led the way for North Dakota (4-7) with 18 points, including 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. Quinton Hooker added 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Jaron Nash chipped in with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The first half was tight most of the way, with neither team able to put much together offensively, as shown by the 7-3 score more than seven minutes into the game. North Dakota took an eight-point lead on Tyler's 3-pointer with 6:35 to go, but Marquette responded with an 11-1 run to take the lead before North Dakota closed on an 8-1 run to take a five-point halftime advantage.

Both teams were cold to start the second half as well, as North Dakota took a four-point lead just under four minutes into the stanza, then had only two field goals over an eight-minute span, as the Golden Eagles forged a 48-40 advantage on Wilson's layup with 8:18 to play. Matt Carlino scored five straight points to up the lead to double digits at 55-44 with 6:20 to go, and North Dakota could never get the lead under nine the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marquette C Luke Fischer had averaged 20.5 points in his first two games since becoming eligible for the Golden Eagles, but he finished with six points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field. … Marquette dominated the glass, 46-28, including 17 offensive boards. … Neither team shot well from the free-throw line, with North Dakota going 5-of-11 while Marquette was 13-of-24.
