Iowa 80, North Florida 70: Aaron White scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds and recorded five steals to lead the host Hawkeyes past the Ospreys.

Peter Jok and Mike Gesell chipped in with 12 points apiece for Iowa (9-4), which won for the eighth time in nine home games this season. Jarrod Uthoff added 10 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Hawkeyes, who controlled the boards 40-31.

Trent Mackey scored 18 points off the bench for North Florida (7-6), which was hampered by 20 turnovers. Beau Beech totaled 17 points and Dallas Moore added 13 along with seven assists to lead all players.

North Florida stayed in the game early by relying exclusively on the 3-point shot, scoring its first five buckets from beyond the arc to stay within 17-15 with just over 11 minutes to play in the first half, but Iowa showed its long range mettle as well, striking from 3-point range on its next three possessions during an 11-2 run that opened up a 28-17 lead. The Ospreys pulled to within 28-23 on a jumper from Romelo Banks with 5:39 to go before the Hawkeyes closed the period on a 16-8 spurt, including six points from White to hit the locker room up 44-31 at halftime.

After the break, North Florida pulled to within 50-45 on a jumper from Chris Davenport before a 9-2 run that featured a 3-pointer from Josh Oglesby restored order for Iowa at 57-45 with 13:36 to go. An 11-2 jolt that included five points from Beech got the Ospreys back to within 72-65 with 3:44 left but the Hawkeyes made 8-of-8 free throws down the stretch to keep North Florida at bay.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa has won 11 straight regular season non-conference finales. ... North Florida shot 46.2 percent from 3-point range. ... The Hawkeyes blocked six shots, led by four from C Gabriel Olaseni.
