No. 20 Miami (Fla.) 77, Charlotte 74: Sheldon McClellan had a career-high 31 points and 11 rebounds as the visiting Hurricanes survived a late rally and defeated the 49ers for the second time in three days.

Manu Lecomte had 18 points, Angel Rodriguez added 14 and Tonye Jekiri recorded 13 rebounds for Miami (6-0), which captured the Charleston Classic title on Sunday with a 77-58 victory over the 49ers. The Hurricanes shot 50.9 percent from the field and made 14-of-23 from 3-point range.

Torin Dorn and Mike Thorne Jr. paced Charlotte (3-2) with 17 points apiece while Braxton Ogbueze chipped in 13. Pierria Henry overcame a poor shooting game and finished with 11 rebounds and nine assists for the 49ers, who trailed 75-72 with 9.7 seconds left before Ogbueze was fouled on a 3-point shot and missed his final attempt after converting his first two free throws.

Charlotte led by as many as nine before Miami closed the first half on a 21-11 run to move ahead 38-37 at the break. The Hurricanes extended their lead to 57-45 with just under 14 minutes left after making four straight 3-pointers, including two by Lecomte.

McClellan scored four straight points to put Miami ahead by 13 with 5:20 left before Charlotte responded with a 12-2 run. The Hurricanes led by one with 9.7 seconds left following Ogbueze’s missed free-throw attempt and moved ahead by three on McClellan's two free throws before Ogbueze missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami is 6-0 for the first time since 2009-10, when the Hurricanes opened 8-0. … Ogbueze started for Charlotte after leaving Sunday’s game in the first half with a right knee injury. … Henry was 1-of-10 from the field and missed all six of his 3-point attempts for Miami, which lost despite shooting 49.2 from the field.
