Texas Tech 75, Northwestern State 64: Robert Turner scored 13 points with five steals, and a 16-4 second-half surge pushed the host Red Raiders past the pesky Demons.

Devaugntah Williams hit three 3-pointers off the bench to finish with 11 points, while Justin Gray and Zach Smith teamed up to spark the decisive run for Texas Tech (3-1). The Red Raiders posted their best shooting performances from the field (48.2 percent) and from 3-point range (46.7 percent) this season.

Zeek Woodley led Northwestern State (2-3) with 27 points on 11-of-12 shooting from the field. The Demons hung around thanks to a 14-for-19 effort from the free-throw line, but were outrebounded 41-27.

Northwestern State trailed by only four points when Smith slammed home a dunk 1 ½ minutes into the second half, and a Norense Odiase layup and Turner’s 3-pointer quickly pushed Texas Tech’s lead to 44-33. Gray’s layup and Smith’s dunk capped the run and gave the Red Raiders a 53-37 advantage with 13:19 left.

Texas Tech, which never trailed, used a 24-7 run to build a 30-12 lead with 6 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half. But the Red Raiders scored only seven more points the rest of the half and, after the Demons drew within 37-28 at the break, Woodley hit a layup and a 3-pointer in the opening 1:20 of the second half to bring Northwestern State within 37-33.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Odiase, who entered Tuesday averaging a team-high 14 points, was saddled with foul trouble most of the night and finished with six points. … The Red Raiders finished with a season-high 17 assists. … Gray and Randy Onwuasor each added 10 points and five rebounds for Texas Tech.
