Memphis 77, Prairie View A&M 49: Shaq Goodwin scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the host Tigers in the on-campus portion of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Invitational.

Markel Crawford and Trahson Burrell each scored nine points for Memphis (1-1), which shot 50 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Panthers 42-23. The Tigers, who will face Baylor in the tournament semifinals on Thanksgiving night at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, also finished with a 42-13 edge in bench points.

Tre Hagood scored 16 points and also had three steals and John Brisco added 11 points for Prairie View (0-5). The Panthers played without their two top scorers, guard Montrael Scott (15.0) and forward Karim York (10.8), who both were sidelined with the flu.

Goodwin scored five points as Memphis broke out to a 15-2 lead in the first seven minutes. Hagood helped rally the Panthers back to within 31-21, but Goodwin capped an 7-2 run over the final four minutes of the half with a jumper to give Memphis a 38-23 halftime lead.

Memphis blew the game open with a 27-9 run over the first 11 minutes of the second half, capped by a jumper by Kedren Johnson that made it 65-32. Prairie View never got closer than 28 points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis, which finished with four assists for the entire game in its opening loss to Wichita State, had four in less than five minutes to start the game and finished with 15. ... Memphis improved to 27-1 all-time against Southwestern Athletic Conference teams. ... The Tigers have won 11 straight home openers with the last loss coming to Austin Peay, 81-80, in overtime in 2002.
