Rutgers 76, St. Francis (N.Y.) 73: Myles Mack scored 25 points, including a pair of free throws with 26 seconds left that broke a 73-73 tie, and had a career-high eight steals as the host Scarlet Knights rallied to edge the Terriers.

Mack was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line, including the game-winners after he was fouled diving for a rebound. Kadeem Jack had 13 points and Junior Etou added 12 points and nine rebounds for Rutgers (2-1).

Kevin Douglas scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Tyreek Jewell tallied 13 points for St. Francis (0-3), which fell to 0-4 all-time against Rutgers. Antonio Jenifer and Brent Jones each scored 11 points while Chris Hooper added nine points and seven rebounds for the Terriers, who finished with 21 turnovers.

Rutgers used a 9-0 run capped by Jack's layup to take a 21-12 lead midway through the first half. The Terriers closed to 35-28 on a pair of free throws from Jewell, but the Scarlet Knights extended the lead back to double digits and led 45-32 at halftime after D.J. Foreman sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

St. Francis, sparked by a pair of 3-pointers by Jenifer, went on a 24-12 run midway through the second half to take a 65-61 lead. Douglas' layup with 1:09 to go gave St. Francis its last lead at 73-71 before Rutgers closed the game out with a 5-0 spurt as Jenifer and Jones both missed jumpers down the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. Francis, which grabbed 22 offensive rebounds in a season opening 70-53 loss at Georgetown, finished with a 41-30 rebounding edge – including 13 offensive boards. ... Jack missed Rutgers' first two games with a thumb injury. ... Etou grabbed two offensive rebounds to give him 11 in three games.
