Omaha 97, Marquette 89: Devin Patterson scored 26 points and CJ Carter added 25 as the visiting Mavericks handed the Golden Eagles their second consecutive loss.

Tre’Shawn Thurman contributed 12 points while Mike Rostampour recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds as Omaha (2-1) shot 57.1 percent from the field. Rylan Murry had 10 points for the Mavericks, who had a 40-24 edge on the boards and made 26-of-30 from the free-throw line.

Juan Anderson led the way with 28 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Marquette (1-2), which lost 74-63 at Ohio State on Tuesday. Derrick Wilson chipped in with 17 points and Duane Wilson added 15 for the Golden Eagles, who went 6-of-27 from behind the 3-point arc.

Carter scored 16 in the first half and Omaha recorded 12 of the first 14 points in the game before holding off several rallies for a 44-41 lead at intermission. Anderson’s layup put Marquette in front 47-45 early in the second half, but the Mavericks responded with 11 of the next 13 points – six from Thurman.

Anderson’s layup tied the game at 66 before Omaha rallied again with an 8-0 run that was capped by a pair of Patterson free throws with 7:16 to go. Patterson and Rostampour hit back-to-back 3-pointers for an 80-68 lead with 5:29 left and Marquette could not get closer than six the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Omaha F Jake White, a 6-8 transfer from Wichita State who recorded nine points and 11 rebounds in the season opener, missed his second straight game with a foot injury. … It was only Marquette’s fourth loss in 28 games against a Summit League opponent. … The Mavericks went 7-of-17 from 3-point range and has made 26 from behind the arc in their first three games.
