LSU 69, Texas Tech 64 (OT): Jordan Mickey collected 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Tigers rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit to edge the visiting Red Raiders.

Jarell Martin had 17 points and 12 rebounds, Josh Gray scored 14 points and Keith Hornsby chipped in 12 for LSU (2-0), which forced overtime on Tim Quarterman’s steal and layup with 13 seconds left. The Tigers held the Red Raiders to one field goal in overtime to complete the comeback.

Norense Odiase and Zach Smith had 13 points and seven rebounds apiece for Texas Tech (1-1), which started three freshmen for the second straight game. Robert Turner had 10 points and eight rebounds but missed a long jumper at the buzzer that would have won the game in regulation.

The Tigers missed 25 of their 35 shots in the first half and trailed 36-24 at the break after Texas Tech scored 11 straight points in the final 4:32. Smith and Turner combined to score 19 points in the first half for the Red Raiders, who lost 71-69 to the Tigers last season in Lubbock.

Hornsby made back-to-back 3-pointers and Martin followed with two thunderous dunks as LSU took a 53-52 lead with 6:34 to play. Texas Tech responded with five straight points and led by four with three minutes remaining, but the Red Raiders missed their final seven field goal shots in regulation.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas Tech coach Tubby Smith fell to 12-4 all-time against LSU. .. Smith fouled out with 23 seconds left in overtime for the Red Raiders, who committed 17 turnovers … LSU was 2-of-19 from 3-point range while Texas Tech missed nine of its 12 shots from beyond the arc.
