UCF 64, Stetson 55: Freshman B.J. Taylor notched 14 points and nine rebounds in his first college game as the Knights won a see-saw battle with the visiting Hatters.

Shaheed Davis produced 11 points and 13 rebounds and freshman Adonys Henriquez registered 11 points and three assists for UCF (1-0), which won its 14th straight against Stetson (1-1). Staphon Blair chipped in with 11 points and Brandon Goodwin had five points and a game-high seven assists.

Brian Pegg put up 12 points and Angel Rivera managed 10 points and four assists to lead the Hatters. Kentwan Smith recorded eight points and six rebounds and Kyle Sikora added seven points and 10 boards in the loss.

Neither team could muster much of a lead in the first half, with the Knights holding the early advantage at 8-3 behind 3-pointers from Kasey Wilson and Henriquez. The Hatters secured their first lead at 21-20 on two free throws by Pegg with eight minutes left but they held it for 2:11 before UCF responded to go into the break with a 34-28 lead.

The back-and-forth play continued into the second half with the Hatters reclaiming the lead at 39-38 behind layups from Pegg and Sikora and a 3-pointer by Cameron Harvey only to be answered by five points from Taylor. Stetson took its final lead at 55-53 on a 3-pointer by Rivera, but the Knights scored the final 11 points - including six by Taylor - to seal the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Neither team shot particularly well from the field, with the Knights making 19-of-53 to 21-of-59 for the Hatters. ... The Knights won the game at the line, where they made 20 free throws to just 10 for Stetson. ... Taylor made just 4-of-13 field goals, including 2-of-8 3-pointers, but hit all four of his free throws in the closing minutes.
