Wisconsin 62, Northern Kentucky 31: Frank Kaminsky recorded 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists as the Badgers pulled away from the visiting Norse.

Sam Dekker poured in 15 points while Nigel Hayes contributed six points, a career-high 10 rebounds and two blocks for Wisconsin (1-0). Traevon Jackson added nine points for the Badgers, who won their 13th straight regular-season opener after dominating on the boards 42-28.

Daniel Camps led the way with eight points off the bench for Northern Kentucky (0-1), who shot 26.4 percent from the field. Jalen Billups made 3-of-4 from the field and registered six points for the Norse.

Jake Giesler made the first basket of the game for the Norse before Wisconsin scored 13 of the next 15, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Josh Gasser and capped by Kaminsky’s dunk. Gasser’s 3-pointer with seven minutes left gave the Badgers a double-digit lead for the second time and they extended it to 28-15 at halftime.

Jackson made a jumper and a 3-pointer, sandwiching a basket by Kaminsky, as Wisconsin quickly pushed its lead to 35-15 at the outset of the second half. Kaminsky banked home a leaner and fed Vitto Brown down low for an easy basket to make it 55-23 and the Badgers were on their way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wisconsin’s reserve F Duje Dukan is sitting out the first two regular-season games due to NCAA rules after he regained a year of eligibility. … Northern Kentucky’s starting lineup combined for only eight points on 4-of-24 shooting. … Wisconsin is 99-7 under coach Bo Ryan in home games against non-conference opponents.
