Charleston Southern 66, Ole Miss 65 (OT): Cedrick Bowen's putback dunk with 0.1 seconds left led the Buccaneers to a stunning upset of the host Rebels.

Ole Miss looked to be in control in the extra period after LaDarius White knocked down a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:05 left. But the Rebels' Martavious Newby turned the ball over with 8.2 seconds remaining and Bowen converted a tip dunk as time expired on a play that was upheld after a lengthy review.

Arlon Harper had 17 points to pace Charleston Southern (1-0), which prevailed despite shooting less than 33 percent from the field and 8-of-35 from 3-point range. Bowen and Will Saunders added 12 points apiece while Saah Nimley had eight points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Newby's 14 points led Ole Miss (0-1), which shot a dismal 30.2 percent from the floor and 6-of-30 from beyond the arc. M.J. Rhett (11 points) was the only other Rebels player in double figures.

The Buccaneers broke open a close game with a strong defensive stand, holding the Rebels without a point for more than six minutes in the opening half as they expanded a two-point lead to 12. Ole Miss responded with a 7-0 run to trim the deficit, but Wesley Johnson countered with five straight Charleston Southern points - the final three coming on late free throws after he was fouled beyond the arc - to send the Buccaneers into the break ahead 29-17.

The Rebels staged their own defensive stand to open the second half, keeping Charleston Southern off the scoreboard for the first 3:21 while reducing the lead to three on a Newby layup. A White 3-pointer with 10:40 left made it a 44-43 Buccaneers lead, and Rhett finally drew Ole Miss even on a transition jumper with 3:24 remaining to set the stage for the thrilling finish.
