No. 6 Villanova 77, Georgetown 59: Darrun Hilliard led the way with 19 points as the host Wildcats cruised in the regular-season finale for both Big East teams.

JayVaughn Pinkston chipped in 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds for Villanova (28-3, 16-2), which won for the 12th time in 13 games, including Thursday's win over Xavier that clinched the Big East regular-season title. James Bell and Ryan Arcidiacono each had 11 points for the Wildcats while Kris Jenkins notched 10 in a reserve role.

Georgetown (17-13, 8-10) received 20 points from Markel Starks and 14 from backcourt mate D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera. The Hoyas were doomed by 18 turnovers and a 13-of-22 performance from the foul line.

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field and knocked down four 3-pointers in the first half, but two main factors helped stake Villanova to a 42-29 halftime lead. The Wildcats had seven offensive rebounds in the opening 20 minutes while the Hoyas had none, and Georgetown also committed 10 first-half turnovers.

Villanova pushed its lead to 55-35 on back-to-back 3-pointers by Arcidiacono with just over 13 minutes left in the second half. Georgetown scored the next six points, but the hosts responded with seven straight - the final five by Hilliard - to eliminate any potential drama down the stretch.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bell had 11 first-half points to lead all scorers while Aaron Bowen had nine for Georgetown. ... Villanova had 14 steals, including three apiece by Bell, Arcidiacono and Hilliard. ... Georgetown F Mikael Hopkins grabbed only three rebounds and did not score a point before fouling out.
