Georgetown 75, No. 13 Creighton 63: Markel Starks scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half of his final home game - including six down the stretch - as the Hoyas upset the Bluejays.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds for Georgetown (17-12, 8-9 Big East), which shot 54 percent to earn a split of the season series. Jabril Trawick added 15 points and seven rebounds and Mikael Hopkins contributed 10 points, five rebounds and five blocks for the Hoyas.

Doug McDermott, who leads the nation in scoring at 25.9 points per game, recorded 16 of his 22 in the second half and added 12 rebounds as Creighton (23-6, 13-4) lost back-to-back games for the first time in conference play. Grant Gibbs scored 17 points and Austin Chatman had 14, while McDermott was 9-for-23 from the field.

Georgetown led 42-28 at the break after making 61.5 percent of its shots from the field, with Smith-Rivera scoring 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting and McDermott 3-for-10 from the floor. The Hoyas stretched the lead to as much as 16 before McDermott's 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 61-55 with 5:01 remaining.

Starks answered Gibbs' 3-pointer with a bucket to make it 66-58 with 1:42 left before another Gibbs trey cut the deficit to five with 1:31 to play. Starks fed Aaron Bowen for a layup to put the Hoyas on top 68-61 with 1:02 to go and Starks made a pair of free throws with 34 seconds left to give Georgetown a 72-63 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McDermott, who has scored 2,966 points, moved past Danny Manning and into ninth place on the NCAA all-time scoring list. ... The Hoyas held McDermott to 14 in the Bluejays' 76-63 victory on Jan. 25. ... Creighton's loss clinched at least a share of the Big East title for Villanova.
