No. 19 Iowa 83, Purdue 76: Roy Devyn Marble scored 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting as the Hawkeyes earned a Big Ten win over the visiting Boilermakers.

Marble also had five assists and four steals and Aaron White put up 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (20-9, 9-7), who solidified their standing for an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. Mike Gesell registered 15 points and Josh Oglesby added 11 points.

Rapheal Davis went 7-of-12 from the floor and scored 18 points for the Boilermakers (15-14, 5-11). A.J. Hammons supplied 16 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks, Kendall Stephens and Errick Peck had 12 points each and Terone Johnson finished with 11 points.

The Boilermakers opened the second half with a 12-2 to run climb to within three points before finally taking the lead four minutes later on a 3-pointer by Stephens, a jumper by Johnson and a dunk by Hammons. That was followed by a scoring drought of 6:10, which allowed Iowa to retake a 68-64 lead with 5:30 left.

Oglesby drained a 3-pointer to put Iowa up 72-68 with less than four minutes remaining and the Hawkeyes hung on behind five free throws from Gesell and a pair from Oglesby. After struggling early on, making just two of their first 11 shots, the Hawkeyes made 16-of-24 and closed the first half with a 15-5 run to lead 50-37.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Hawkeyes committed just one turnover in the first half and five for the game. ... Iowa coach Fran McCaffery is hoping to take his fourth team to the NCAA Tournament after doing so at Lehigh, North Carolina Greensboro and Siena. ... Ronnie Johnson had five points and four assists, but missed all six of his shots and committed seven of the 16 turnovers for Purdue.
