Grill's triple at the 2:35 mark matched Missouri's largest lead at 85-66, before Newell and De'Shayne Montgomery's layups pulled Georgia within 15. The Tigers' impressive second half was capped with Tony Perkins' fastbreak dunk on Newell with 1:22 left.

Demary began the scoring with a free throw before the game started, as Missouri threw Mark Mitchell into the lineup, changing its original starting five, costing the Tigers a technical foul.

RJ Godfrey and Demary's baskets gave Georgia a 9-7 edge, before Bates connected on his second triple of the first half.

After Demary's mid-range jumper and Newell's dunk put the Bulldogs ahead 20-19, Josh Gray's layup, Mitchell's dunk and Bates' triple gave the Tigers a 26-20 lead with 8:18 left.

Georgia then answered with a 12-3 run, stamped with Demary and Cain's back-to-back 3-pointers. Cain's layup on Georgia's final possession gave the Bulldogs a 41-38 halftime lead.
