Eric Dixon scored a game-high 22 points and Villanova played hard-nosed defense in completing the season series sweep of visiting Georgetown 75-47 on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats (16-12, 9-8 Big East) have had issues with slow offensive starts throughout the season, including their 70-54 win over Georgetown on Feb. 16, but they had no problem this time.

After Georgetown hit a 3-pointer to start the game, Villanova responded with a 10-0 run and hardly looked back.

The Wildcats closed the first half on an 18-3 run over the final 6:45 to take a 43-19 halftime lead. Justin Moore ignited the scoring spurt with three straight baskets, including back-to-back 3-pointers.

All five Villanova starters scored in double figures. Dixon was 7-of-11 shooting and added six rebounds. Moore had 14 points and shot 4 of 8 from long range. Mark Armstrong had 12 points and six assists, and Hakim Hart chipped in 11 points, five assists, two steals and a block.

Tyler Burton finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in his return to the starting lineup. He came off the bench in Saturday's loss to UConn due to a non-COVID illness.

The Wildcats shot 53.2 percent overall (25 of 47) and 13 of 27 from long range.

Villanova was tenacious defensively throughout the rout. It led by as much as 33 points, capitalizing on a stretch where Georgetown went nearly 10 minutes without making a field goal in the second half.

The Wildcats have won four of their last five games, while the Hoyas have lost 12 of 13.

Georgetown (9-19, 2-15) shot just 27.5 percent overall (14 of 51) and 7 of 26 from beyond the arc.

Hoyas leading scorer Jayden Epps didn't hit a single shot from the field and scored his six points -- 12 below his average -- solely off free throws.

Dontrez Styles paced the Hoyas with 16 points and seven rebounds. Jay Heath and Rowan Brumbaugh added nine points apiece.

Georgetown smallest deficit in the second half was 18 points.
