PJ Hayes and Deuce Turner both set career highs with 23 points apiece as San Diego beat visiting Arizona State 89-84 on Saturday night.
The Toreros (7-4) shot 62.9 percent in the second half, outscoring Arizona State 61-48 in the period.
San Diego is now 6-0 at home this season.
Arizona State (6-3) had its four-game winning streak come to an end.
Hayes and Turner each made five 3-pointers.
Both teams went 12-for-29 from beyond the arc.
Jamiya Neal, who led the Sun Devils with 20 points, made his fifth 3-pointer of the game with 1:49 left to cut the Toreros' lead to 83-81.
After a missed field-goal attempt by Turner, ASU's Jose Perez was fouled and made two free throws to tie the game at 83 with 1:18 remaining.
Hayes was then fouled and made a pair of free throws with 58 seconds remaining.
Frankie Collins made 1 of 2 free throws with 39 seconds to go to cut the San Diego lead to 85-84.
Hayes then converted 1 of 2 free-throw attempts.
The Toreros recorded a team rebound following Hayes' miss on the second attempt after the ball went out of bounds on Arizona State.
A layup by Kevin Patton Jr. with 24 seconds left increased the lead to 88-84 and virtually sealed the victory.
After a missed 3-pointer by Collins, Wayne McKinney III capped the scoring by making 1 of 2 free throws with 16 seconds left.
San Diego outscored Arizona State 13-4 to cut the Sun Devils' lead to 55-54 with 10:41 remaining in the game.
A 3-pointer by Collins later increased the lead to 61-54 before McKinney made a layup.
San Diego rallied to cut the lead to 66-65 with 7:11 remaining thanks to a 7-2 stretch in which Hayes made a 3-pointer and a layup.
After Arizona State built its lead to 71-65, San Diego responded with 13 unanswered points.
A layup and 3-pointer by Turner and two free throws by Hayes capped the run, giving the Toreros a 78-71 lead with 3:44 remaining.
The Sun Devils took a 36-28 advantage into the break after leading by as many as 12 in the first half.
