Kadary Richmond had 14 points and seven assists, Jamir Harris scored 13 points and Seton Hall routed the Bluejays 74-55 in a Big East game Friday night in Newark, N.J.
Myles Cale scored 12 points and Jared Rhoden and Tyrese Samuel each had 11 for the Pirates (14-7, 5-6 Big East), who won their second straight game and broke a four-game losing streak in the series by limiting Creighton to 22.7 percent shooting (5-for-22) from 3-point range.
Seton Hall point guard Bryce Aiken (concussion protocol) missed his fifth consecutive game.
Alex O'Connell scored 12 points and Ryan Nembhard had 11 for Creighton (13-8, 5-5), which has lost three of its last four games but was coming off a road upset over No. 17 UConn. The Bluejays struggled mightily on offense in the first half, when they shot 25 percent overall (7-for-28) and 9.1 percent from beyond the arc (1-for-11).
Seton Hall led throughout, going ahead 11-0 and leading 37-16 at halftime.
Creighton briefly cut into the lead in the second half with an 8-0 run partially fueled by Seton Hall mistakes. An O'Connell 3-pointer was set up by Nembhard's steal, and then O'Connell stole an errant Alexis Yetna pass and dunked to finish the run and cut the lead to 45-32 with 13:14 left in the game.
But five straight points by Cale extended the Pirates' lead to 50-32. Creighton didn't get closer than 15 after that.
Seton Hall, which had led at halftime in only two of its 10 previous Big East games, came out unusually hot.
The Pirates took an 8-0 lead on a jumper by Rhoden and 3-pointers by Cale and Tray Jackson, with Richmond assisting both 3s. That prompted a timeout by Creighton coach Greg McDermott merely 2:12 into the game.
But it did not matter. Richmond's trey 29 seconds later made it 11-0, and Seton Hall eventually led 23-3 on a layup by Harris with 9:44 to go off a feed from Richmond. By that time, the Bluejays had shot 1-for-15 (6.7 percent) from the floor and had committed seven turnovers.
Arthur Kaluma then came up with a rarity for Creighton in this half -- a jumper in the paint that actually went in. That ended a scoring drought of 6:43.
The Pirates took their biggest lead of the night when Harris' triple made it 35-11 with 1:21 left in the half.
