Texas Tech flexed its muscle from the outset against road-weary Prairie View A&M on Monday and used a first-half-ending run to vault to an 84-49 victory in Lubbock, Texas.

The Red Raiders (3-0) turned in their best performance of the season to blow past the Panthers (0-5), who played their third road game in three days.

Bryson Williams led Texas Tech with 18 points and seven rebounds and was a major force in a first half with 13 points and six boards. Davion Warren chimed in with 15 points and buried three of the Red Raiders' 10 3-pointers. That duo combined to connect on 13 of 20 shots from the field.

D'Rell Roberts led Prairie View 12 points but missed six of the seven 3-point attempts he hoisted, part of the visitors' miserable 4-of-19 effort from outside the arc. Jawaun Daniels added 10 points.

The Panthers stuck close in the opening minutes before the Red Raiders hung up nine unanswered points to create some breathing room. A 15-0 salvo in the final 6:10 before halftime that removed most of the drama.

During their drought, the Panthers missed five floor shots and turned the ball over four times. They coughed the ball up 13 times in the opening 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech clicked on all cylinders to build a 45-23 halftime cushion. The Red Raiders dominated the backboards before the break (24-17), generated 18 points off turnovers, scored 22 points in the paint and found 11 points on the fastbreak.

Looking leg-weary after road losses to Michigan in Washington, D.C., on Saturday at Oklahoma State on Sunday, Prairie View shot 39.1 percent (9 of 23) from the field in the first half and got progressively worse by missing 12 of its first 17 attempts after halftime.

By contrast, the Red Raiders hit five of the first seven shots they tried in the early stages of the second half to extend the lead to 57-27 by the 15:20 juncture.

For the game, Texas Tech hit 43.7 percent from the floor while Prairie View made 38.3 percent.
