Johnny Davis scored 25 points to eclipse the 20-point mark for the fourth time in his last five games as No. 23 Wisconsin knocked off Marquette 89-76 on Saturday at Madison, Wis.

Davis, the 2021 Maui Invitational MVP, came within five points of his career high to lead Wisconsin (7-1) to its fifth consecutive victory.

Brad Davison added 20 points for the Badgers, going 4 of 8 from 3-point range, while Chucky Hepburn notched a career-high 15 points. Steven Crowl also had 15 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.

The Badgers shot 70.4 percent (19 of 27) from the field in the second half, including 55.6 percent (5 of 9) from 3-point from range.

Justin Lewis led Marquette (7-2) with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Darryl Morsell and Oso Ighodaro each finished with 11 points, and Tyler Kolek had a game-high eight assists.

The Golden Eagles let things slip away in the second half while getting outscored 55-45.

Wisconsin made 11 of its first 14 shots to start the second half and jumped out to a 59-44 lead with 10:22 remaining.

Marquette put together a 6-0 run thanks to a 3-pointer from Lewis and a three-point play from Greg Elliott to cut the deficit to 61-53 with 8:34 remaining. But the Badgers quickly suffocated any chance of a comeback with an 8-0 run of their own to take a 69-53 lead with 7:14 remaining.

In a closely contested first half, neither team led by more than five points. The Golden Eagles' bench was vital, tallying 19 first-half points, 11 of which came from Ighodaro on 5-of-5 shooting. Davis responded with 14 points of his own for Wisconsin in the first half, while Crowl added eight to send Wisconsin into halftime with a 34-31 edge.

Marquette found itself in foul trouble for most of the afternoon. The Golden Eagles' 20 fouls led to 23 free-throw attempts (17 made) for Wisconsin.

The Badgers started cold offensively, shooting 5 of 21 (23.8 percent) through the first 12 minutes. They finally found their rhythm at the end of the first half, putting together a 9-2 run.
