Hunter Dickinson amassed 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead Michigan to a 58-57 win over Penn State on Tuesday in University Park, Pa.

Eli Brooks added 16 points to help the Wolverines (12-9, 6-5 Big Ten) earn their fifth win in the past seven games.

Jalen Pickett scored 14 points and Sam Sessoms added 13 points for the Nittany Lions (9-11, 4-8), who lost for the fifth time in six games.

The game was tied 34-34 at halftime, and the second half was a struggle on offense for both teams. Penn State made just 7 of 29 field-goal attempts (24.1 percent), and Michigan hit just 5 of 24 (20.8 percent).

Michigan held a 46-44 lead with 7:51 remaining in the game after the squads combined for only 22 points in the first 12:09 of the second half.

Penn State tied the game at 48-48 with 3:41 remaining, but Michigan went ahead 52-48 with 2:30 left thanks to two free throws by Dickinson and a jumper by Brooks.

The Nittany Lions cut the deficit to 52-49 with 26.1 seconds left after a free throw by Seth Lundy, but Michigan took a five-point lead with 21.3 seconds on two free throws by Caleb Houstan.

Penn State made it 54-51 with under 12 seconds left on a basket by John Harrar. Michigan increased the gap to 56-51 with 8.9 seconds remaining on two Brooks free throws.

Sessoms pulled Penn State to within 56-54 after hitting three free throws with 4.1 seconds remaining, but Brooks made two free throws with 3.4 seconds left to put Michigan up 58-54.

Myles Dread sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Penn State to account for the final score.

After Michigan took a 19-16 lead with 11:43 left in the first half, Penn State made a big run. The Nittany Lions scored the next 11 points over the next 4:55 to take a 27-19 lead with 6:48 remaining until halftime, and the hosts took a 34-23 lead with 3:58 remaining until intermission.

However, Michigan responded, ending the first half on an 11-0 run to tie the game heading into the break.
