Timmy Allen scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Alfonso Plummer added 21 points on 6-for-11 shooting from 3-point range as seventh-seeded Utah advanced with a 98-95 victory against No. 10-seeded Washington on Wednesday in the opening round of the Pacific-12 Conference tournament in Las Vegas.

All five starters, plus reserve Riley Battin, scored in double-figures for the Utes (12-12), who will meet second-seeded USC on Thursday in the quarterfinals at T-Mobile Arena. Branden Carlson scored 13 points, Pelle Larsson and Mikael Jantunen each had 12 and Battin tallied 11.

Quade Green had a career-high 31 points and seven assists for Washington, which finished its season 5-21. Jamal Bey added 18 points, Erik Stevenson scored 14 and Nate Roberts had 10 for the Huskies.

The Utes, who closed their regular season Saturday with a 98-59 victory against Arizona State, continued their impressive offensive display in their tournament opener.

Utah shot 60.4 percent for the game (32 of 53), including 14 of 26 from long range. The Utes fell one shy of the tournament record for most 3-pointers in a tournament game, set by Stanford in 2013 in overtime.

The Huskies had an early 8-6 lead before Utah went on a 20-2 run spanning 3:53.

Plummer sparked the spurt with a four-point play, with Plummer and Jantunen then hitting back-to-back 3-pointers. Allen made a jumper and added a driving layup that turned into a three-point play. Carlson capped the run with a jumper and a 3-pointer.

A 3-pointer by Plummer gave the Utes their largest lead of the half at 29-12.

The Huskies pulled within seven points on a dunk by Riley Sorn with 3:04 left in the half, but Allen helped the Utes pull away again, scoring twice more, including a jumper with four seconds left, to make it 47-35 at intermission.

The Utes took their largest lead, 87-68, with 5:08 remaining before the Huskies closed with a 27-11 run.
