Kai Jones scored 17 points off the bench to lead a balanced attack as No. 15 Texas used a big first-half run to set the table for an 81-67 win over hapless Iowa State on Tuesday in Big 12 Conference action in Ames, Iowa.

The Longhorns burst away from an early 13-11 deficit with a 17-0 run over a four-minute span of the middle of the first half and led 28-13 after two free throws by Greg Brown with 9:55 to play.

Courtney Ramey added 14 points for Texas (15-7, 9-6 Big 12), with Brown and Matt Coleman III scoring 12 apiece.

The Longhorns are in the midst of a four-game road trip, all in a stretch of nine days, to end their regular season. Texas plays at No. 16 Oklahoma on Thursday before finishing its regular-season campaign at TCU on Sunday.

Jalen Coleman-Lands led all scorers with 22 points, with Javan Johnson adding 13, George Conditt IV hitting 11 and Solomon Young scoring 10 for the Cyclones in the loss.

Iowa State (2-19, 0-16) is limping to the finish line of the regular season. Tuesday's loss was the Cyclones' 15th straight - Iowa State has not won since Dec. 20. Seven of Iowa State's 16 conference losses are by 10 points or fewer, including a 78-72 defeat at Texas on Jan. 5.

Texas led by as many as 17 points in the first half until the Cyclones made a late spurt, drawing to within eight points after a jumper and a dunk by Conditt with 35 seconds remaining. Brown's jumper with two seconds left garnered Texas a 38-28 advantage at the break.

Kai Jones led all scorers with nine points in the half as eight of the 10 players that saw the court in the first half for the Longhorns scored. Most of Texas' advantage at halftime came via a 9-0 edge at free-throw line.

Johnson paced Iowa State with seven points over the first 20 minutes.

Iowa State never got closer than eight points in the second half as the Longhorns controlled the pace and finished in workmanlike fashion.
