James Akinjo and Bennedict Mathurin each had 14 points to lead Arizona to a 70-61 victory Thursday over Oregon State in a Pac-12 game at Tucson, Ariz.

Azuolas Tubelis had 10 rebounds for Arizona, which topped Oregon State 47-34 in rebounds and outscored the Beavers 17-9 in second-chance points.

Terrell Brown Jr. finished with seven points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats (14-6, 8-6 Pac-12).

Oregon State (10-9, 6-7) was led by 13 points apiece by Ethan Thompson and Jarod Lucas. Gianni Hunt finished with 12 points and Warith Alatishe had 10.

The Wildcats took a 38-30 lead at the half behind Akinjo's 12 points. He ended a field goal drought of 5:19 with a 3-pointer with 46 seconds left and then made a buzzer-beating jump shot.

Hunt helped keep Oregon State close in the first half with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. His teammates made 6 of 27 shots.

Arizona led for all but 19 seconds of the game after Oregon State took a very early lead. The Wildcats withstood a few threats by the Beavers in the second half.

Oregon State cut the lead to 48-44 with 10:25 left on a layup by Hunt but the Beavers could not get closer.

Arizona responded with a 9-0 run capped by a Tubelis dunk and layup to put the Wildcats ahead 57-44 with 7:22 remaining.

The Beavers again threatened with an 8-0 run that culminated on a four-point play by Lucas with 5:04 remaining. Lucas made a 3-pointer while being fouled by Tubelis on the attempt and then drained the free throw.

Arizona then scored seven unanswered points, including five points by Mathurin, to give Arizona a 65-54 lead with 2:24 remaining.

The Wildcats attempted 24 more free throws than Oregon State, finishing 23 of 34 from the line. The Beavers, who had 26 fouls to Arizona's 12, attempted only 10 free throws and made six.

Arizona had 13 turnovers but also 15 assists that contributed to its 20 made field goals.
