Moses Wright's 29 points and 14 rebounds helped bolster Georgia Tech to an 81-77 overtime victory against visiting Duke on Tuesday night in Atlanta.
Michael Devoe posted 15 points and Jordan Usher added 14 points for the Yellow Jackets (14-8, 10-6 Atlantic Coast Conference).
Wright posted six points in overtime. Two Georgia Tech turnovers in the last 15 seconds gave Duke a chance, but DJ Steward missed a potential tying 3-pointer just seconds after cutting a six-point hole in half with a 3.
For Duke, it was the second overtime loss in as many games as its quest to bolster its NCAA Tournament credentials took another dent. The Blue Devils cap the regular season Saturday night at North Carolina.
Georgia Tech, which also is considered to be an NCAA Tournament bubble team, didn't score in the final 4:45 of regulation. That included Jose Alvarado's extremely long, off-the-mark 3-point launch on its final possession. But Duke didn't convert after taking possession with 6.1 seconds to go as Jaemyn Brakefield missed a 3-pointer.
Before that, Duke wiped out an eight-point deficit with an 8-0 run. The last six of those were scored in a 38-second span by Joey Baker, who hit a 3 and then converted all three foul shots on a three-shot opportunity with 1:43 to play for his only points of the game.
Jordan Goldwire's basket began the spurt. Those were his only points until a 3-pointer late in overtime.
Wendell Moore Jr. scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half for Duke (11-10, 9-8), which was coming off Saturday night's home overtime loss to Louisville. Mark Williams also had 20 points, including the Blue Devils' first six of the extra session as he ended up 9-for-9 from the field before fouling out.
ACC scoring leader Matthew Hurt of Duke scored 12 points and secured four rebounds before fouling out with 6:14 to play. His fourth and fifth fouls both came on the offensive end about two minutes apart.
Alvarado, a standout guard, didn't score until his first points of the game came with less than 13 minutes remaining, a basket to tie the game at 48. He finished with 10 points.
Duke led 34-31 at halftime, though Wright's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave him 11 points by the break.
The result halted Duke's 14-game winning streak in the series.
