Matt Mitchell recorded 24 points and nine rebounds and No. 22 San Diego State recovered from blowing a 17-point lead to post a 78-66 overtime victory over visiting Boise State on Thursday night.

Senior Trey Pulliam matched his career high of 18 points as the Aztecs (18-4, 12-3 Mountain West) recorded their ninth consecutive victory. Terrell Gomez contributed 10 points and three steals for the Aztecs.

Senior Derrick Alston Jr. matched a career best of six 3-pointers while scoring a season-high 29 points for Boise State (18-5, 14-4). Devonaire Doutrive added 10 points for the Broncos, who had a four-game winning streak halted.

San Diego State never trailed in the contest and led 34-17 early in the second half before seeing the advantage evaporate.

However, the Aztecs took charge at the start of overtime, with Mitchell scoring two baskets sandwiching a Jordan Schakel 3-pointer to produce a 70-63 lead.

The lead reached 13 in the final minute as San Diego State defeated Boise State for the fifth straight time. The teams meet again Saturday in San Diego.

The Aztecs shot 45 percent from the field and were 6 of 19 from 3-point range. San Diego State held a 44-30 rebounding edge.

The Broncos shot 36.4 percent from the field -- including 1 of 11 in overtime. Boise State missed all eight of its overtime 3-point attempts as part of a 12-of-40 effort from long distance.

Boise State trailed by 16 with just over 11 minutes left in regulation before making a frantic push.

Emmanuel Akot made three 3-pointers and Alston connected on two during a 17-2 spurt that pulled the Broncos within 52-51 with 7:42 remaining.

Boise State finally caught the Aztecs at 58 when Alston buried a straightaway 3-pointer with 1:42 left.

San Diego State later led 63-60 after Mitchell made two throws with 27.1 seconds remaining. However, Boise State's RayJ Dennis knocked down a 3-pointer to tie it at 63 with 9.3 seconds to play.

San Diego State led 29-17 at halftime before Gomez opened the second half with a 3-pointer and a layup to increase the margin to a game-high 17.
