Michael Devoe made his first seven shots, including five from 3-point range, as Georgia Tech breezed to an 87-60 win over host Miami in an Atlantic Coast Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
Devoe finished with a game-high 29 points as the Yellow Jackets (11-8 overall, 7-6 ACC) -- who led 48-18 at halftime -- won their second straight game. Devoe set a career high for made 3-pointers, shooting 7-of-11 from distance.
Georgia Tech also got a double-double from Moses Wright (14 points, 12 rebounds) and 16 points and a game-high six assists from Jose Alvarado.
It was the Jackets' first ACC road win in six attempts this season. Their 48 first-half points on Saturday are the most by an ACC team this season.
Miami (7-13, 3-12), which has lost three in a row and seven of its past eight games, received 18 points from Elijah Olaniyi, 16 points from Anthony Walker and 12 points from Nysier Brooks.
The Hurricanes, who have competed shorthanded all season due to injuries, finished the game with just five scholarship players -- two fewer than what has been "normal" over the past couple of months.
Harlond Beverly - who leads the team in assists - has a back injury and missed a game for the first time this season. Isaiah Wong, who entered the weekend ranked fourth in the ACC in scoring (17.4), injured his right ankle in the first half and did not return. He was held to four points.
Georgia Tech, which never trailed, got off to a 12-0 start. The Jackets stretched that lead to 19-5, shooting 78 percent from the floor during that span while getting a 5-0 turnover edge.
Devoe scored 16 of Tech's first 28 points. He even got a steal and passed up a likely layup, instead swishing a 3-pointer from the top of the key.
Georgia Tech shot 63.3 percent from the floor in the first half, including 6-for-12 on 3-pointers.
Miami shot 28.6 percent, including 2-for-8 on 3-pointers. Tech was plus-seven on turnovers, and the Jackets had a 22-2 edge in points off those miscues.
Miami never mounted a run in the second half as Tech led by as many as 36.
For the game, Tech shot 57.1 percent, including 11-for-26 on 3-pointers (42.3 percent). Miami shot 39.2 percent, including 5-for-17 on 3-pointers (29.4).
