Ayo Dosunmu scored 18 points to pace a balanced attack as No. 6 Illinois topped No. 10 Duke 83-68 on Tuesday in an ACC/Big Ten Challenge game at Durham, N.C.

Kofi Cockburn's 13 points and Andre Curbelo's 12 points also gave the Illini a boost, while Giorgi Bezhanishvili had 11 points and Da'Monte Williams and Trent Frazier each posted 10 points.

Illinois (4-1) stretched a 69-59 lead with four minutes remaining with drives for hoops by Cockburn and Williams. In the meantime, Duke scored on only one of its next four possessions.

The Illini turned to an array of offensive sources. They had seven players contribute at least nine points.

Matthew Hurt scored 19 points for Duke (2-2), which has played all its games at home. The Blue Devils have lost more than one nonleague game at home for the first time since the 1982-83 season.

Jeremy Roach and DJ Steward had 13 points apiece for Duke, which couldn't overcame its 9-for-16 free-throw shooting. Steward ended up with three of the team's five 3-point baskets.

The Illini made 18 of 24 foul shots.

Duke, which shot 5-for-22 on 3-point attempts, missed its first 12 shots from 3-point range before Steward's trey cut the deficit to 56-43.

Before that, the Illini had a burst early in the second half for a 48-29 advantage, only to see Duke score the next nine points to threaten again.

Illinois led 43-29 at halftime, largely based on 6-for-8 shooting on 3-point tries compared to Duke's 0-for-7 mark from deep. Adam Miller made three first-half 3-pointers for the Illini, who ended the night 7-for-11 from beyond the arc.

Hurt picked up his third foul with 6:19 remaining in the first half.

A couple of ACC/Big Ten Challenge streaks ended for the Blue Devils, who had won their past eight games as part of the series. They also lost for the first time in 10 all-time Cameron Indoor Stadium games as part of the series. Still, Duke is 19-3 in the annual competition, the best record for any team in either league.
