BOXSCORE | RECAP
Oklahoma 66, Iowa State 56
When: 6:00 PM ET, Saturday, February 20, 2021
Where: Hilton Coliseum, Ames, Iowa
Officials: # Gerry Polland, # Kelly Self, # Bert Smith

Austin Reaves scored 20 points to lift No. 9 Oklahoma to a 66-56 win over Iowa State on Saturday in Ames, Iowa.

The Sooners' win was their first at Hilton Coliseum since 2011.

It was a rollercoaster of a game for Oklahoma, who built a big lead early, let it slip away early in the second half and then once again took command.

It was just the second game in 15 days for the Sooners (14-5, 9-4 Big 12). Oklahoma's midweek games each of the last two weeks were postponed -- home games against Baylor and Texas -- had been postponed.

The win was the Sooners' third consecutive and eighth in nine games as they maintained their second-place standing in the Big 12 behind undefeated Baylor.

The Cyclones remained winless in conference play but didn't go away quietly.

Iowa State came back from an early 21-point deficit, taking the lead for the first time on Tre Jackson's corner 3-pointer with 11:29 left.

Jackson's 3-pointer was his second in a 13-0 run that lifted the Cyclones into the 46-45 lead.

Iowa State's defense fueled the run, as the Cyclones held Oklahoma to 2 of 13 shooting during the rally and forced four turnovers.

But the Sooners took control once again, reeling off a 16-4 run over the next eight minutes to put the game away for good.

Umoja Gibson hit his only two 3-pointers of the game during that stretch.

Gibson and De'Vion Harmon finished with 10 points each.

The Sooners built a big lead quickly, jumping up 14-2 thanks to repeated trips to the free throw line. The charity stripe fueled the win for OU as the Sooners were 16 of 22 from the line while Iowa State attempted just six free throws, making four.

OU kept pouring it on, leading 39-18 late in the first half.

But the Cyclones had a modest run late in the half to trim the lead to 16 at the break.

Rasir Bolton led the Cyclones (2-16, 0-13) with 14 points while Jalen Coleman-Lands added 13 and Solomon Young 12. Young was 6 of 9 from the field.
