Devin Vassell had 13 points including two free throws with 1 second left in overtime to help Florida State to a 63-60 victory over Purdue in the championship game of the Emerald Coast Classic at Niceville, Fla., on Saturday.
Florida State (7-1) extended its streak to four wins over Purdue (4-3) and the Seminoles won their eighth consecutive overtime game.
RaiQuan Gray made one of two free throws with 38 seconds in overtime to put Florida State ahead 61-60.
Purdue had two opportunities to take the lead, but Jahaad Proctor missed a layup and Aaron Wheeler could not covert the putback.
Florida State's Anthony Polite missed two free throws with 10 seconds left, giving Purdue another chance, but Isaiah Thompson missed a contested short jumper. Vassell, the MVP of the Emerald Coast Classic, grabbed the rebound for Florida State and made the free throws with 1 second remaining.
Trent Forrest led Florida State with 17 points.
Purdue's Matt Haarms had 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field, including making all three of his 3-point attempts. He also had eight rebounds.
M.J. Walker made two free throws with 3:32 left in overtime to give Florida State a 60-58 lead.
Eric Hunter Jr. made a jump-stop attempt off the backboard to tie the game at 60 with 1:40 remaining.
At the end of regulation, Hunter lost the ball while driving to the basket with 16 seconds left setting up the last play for Florida State.
Forrest was isolated and tried to drive but three defenders converged on him and he could not get the shot off before the buzzer. The game went to overtime with the teams tied at 58.
The Boilermakers ended a 4:15 stretch in regulation without a field goal when Proctor made a 3-pointer with 2:33 left to put Purdue ahead 56-54.
After Forrest scored in the paint on the ensuing possession for Florida State, Haarms took a pass from Evan Boudreaux and made a dunk to give Purdue a 58-56 lead with 1:46 left.
Forrest tied the game at 58 with 38 seconds left with a layup driving past two defenders.
