Fourth-ranked San Diego State matched its best start and longest winning streak in program history on Tuesday with a 72-55 rout of visiting Wyoming.

The Aztecs (20-0, 9-0 Mountain West Conference) held the Cowboys to 18-of-42 shooting from the floor, including 6-of-20 from behind the 3-point arc, and forced 16 turnovers. Eleven of those giveaways came in the first half.

San Diego State took a 32-19 lead into intermission and cruised to complete the season series sweep after a 72-52 win at Wyoming on Jan. 8.

Malachi Flynn led San Diego State with 18 points. He also grabbed five rebounds, dished five assists and made four steals.

Matt Mitchell scored 15 points and hit 3 of 4 attempts from 3-point range for the Aztecs. Yanni Wetzell added 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, and Jordan Schakel notched 11 points. KJ Feagin dished five assists.

With the win, San Diego State matched the 20-0 start of the 2010-11 Aztecs, as well as the 20-game winning streak of the 2013-14 squad. San Diego State travels to UNLV on Sunday with an opportunity to set two standalone records.

Wyoming (5-16, 0-9) dropped its seventh consecutive game. The Cowboys fell behind by double digits inside the first seven minutes.

Mitchell's 3-pointer gave San Diego State an 18-6 lead, and despite getting the deficit down to five twice in the half, Wyoming trailed by double digits for much of the night.

Jake Hendricks led Wyoming with 20 points, connecting on 5 of 12 from behind the 3-point arc. Kwane Marble II scored 12 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Trevon Taylor went 6-of-6 from the free throw line and finished with eight points.

Cowboys guard Hunter Maldonado scored seven points, more than 10 below his season average coming into Tuesday's contest. San Diego State's defense limited him to 3-of-6 shooting and forced Maldonado into seven turnovers.

The Aztecs wound up outshooting the Cowboys from the floor 54.3 percent to 42.9 percent.
