Daejon Davis scored 20 points to lead the Stanford Cardinal to a 68-52 win over the visiting California Golden Bears Thursday night in the Pac-12 opener for both teams in Palo Alto, Calif.

Davis, a junior guard, added six rebounds and five assists and Stanford (12-2 overall, 1-0 Pac-12) made nine 3-point shots. Tyrell Terry scored 14 points and Bryce Wills added 10.

Grant Anticevich's 16 points and 10 rebounds led the Bears (6-8, 0-1). Matt Bradley added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Cal made just 17 of 56 shots for the game for a 30.4 field-goal percentage. Stanford, off to a 12-2 start for the first time in eight years, has won four of the last five meetings between the two teams.

Stanford finished the first half of a low-scoring game on a 9-2 run to take a 32-21 lead to the break. Jaiden Delaire knocked down a corner 3 just before the halftime buzzer, helping the Cardinal to their biggest lead of the half after Stanford trailed by five early in the game.

The Cardinal also had an 11-0 run to turn a 7-2 deficit into a 13-7 lead, after struggling to hit shots early in the game.

Cal cut the Stanford lead to 44-35 on a Bradley layup with 12:29 left to play. But the Cardinal took control for good with five straight points from Davis and a 3 from Spencer Jones, his only field goal of the game, to grab a 52-35 lead.

The Bears got as close as 12 down, 55-43, with eight minutes to play. But a 3 from Terry with 4:17 to play gave Stanford its largest lead at 68-47.

Cal outrebounded Stanford 41-30, but committed 18 turnovers to 11 for the Cardinal.
