BOXSCORE | RECAP

When: 10:00 PM ET, Thursday, November 21, 2019
Where: Maples Pavilion, Stanford, California
Officials: # Tom Spitznagel, # Gregory Nixon, # Deron White
Attendance: 2502

Unbeaten Stanford took control with a run midway through the first half and then used a second-half flurry to romp to an 80-50 win over visiting William & Mary in a nonconference game Thursday night.

Freshman guard Tyrell Terry recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (6-0), which figures to get its first serious test of the season when it meets Oklahoma in Kansas City, Mo., on Monday.

Senior 7-footer Andy Van Vliet paced William & Mary (4-2) with 11 points.

A Nathan Knight layup had the visitors on top 7-6 in the game's fourth minute before Stanford made its first big run. Terry scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the 15-0 burst that gave the Cardinal a 21-7 lead.

The Tribe rallied within six late in the first half, and they were still within arm's length at 46-35 when Van Vliet nailed a 3-pointer with 16:37 remaining in the game.

But Stanford went on another scoring binge, with Spencer Jones contributing nine points to a 13-2 spree that opened a 59-37 advantage with 12:02 remaining.

Terry matched his season-high point total accumulated on Saturday against Santa Clara. His 10 rebounds were a season best; he'd totaled just 15 in his first five college games.

Oscar da Silva and Daejon Davis added 14 points apiece for Stanford, which outshot William & Mary 55.3 percent to 36 percent.

Van Vliet sank three 3-pointers for the Tribe, who had opened the season 4-0 before a loss Monday at Oklahoma.

Van Vliet shared team-high rebounding honors with Knight, each grabbing five.

Quinn Blair chipped in with 10 points for the visitors, whose four season-opening wins had come against High Point, American, Wofford and Hampton.
