Isaiah Thompson came off the bench to score 17 points in 23 minutes as Purdue used a balanced scoring attack to rout Chicago State 93-49 on Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind.

Thompson scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half, connecting on 5 of 10 3-pointers for the game.

Purdue (2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak in which it had struggled on offense against Texas and Marquette, shooting a combined 37.5 percent from the floor in the losses.

Evan Boudreaux scored 14 points and Jahaad Proctor netted 13 for Purdue, which scored 25 points off 17 turnovers while dominating the boards at a 48-22 clip. Aaron Wheeler had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The struggling Cougars (1-3) were eventually a panacea for Purdue's ills as the Boilermakers overcame a slow start but picked up their shooting, making 57.9 percent in the second half. They shot 50 percent for the game.

Purdue struggled early against a pesky zone defense and trailed 28-25 with 4:56 remaining in the first half. Purdue then went on a 13-0 run to finish the half, with Proctor scoring the first six points of the surge.

The Boilermakers stayed hot after the break, extending their run to 29-2 for a 54-30 lead with 14:37 remaining.

Purdue limited Chicago State's leading scorer Xavier Johnson to 12 points in 34 minutes as he was only 3 of 13 from the field.

This matchup served as an on-campus game as part of the Emerald Coast Classic in which Purdue will compete on Nov. 29-30.

Saturday's game marked Purdue's 24th victory of 30-plus points since the beginning of the 2015-16 season. That tied Duke for second during that time period; Gonzaga leads with 44.
