Sophomore guard Tyus Battle scored a career-high 29 points, including eight in overtime, as Syracuse erased a 13-point, second-half deficit to hand Georgetown its first loss of the season, 86-79 on Saturday in Washington.

Freshman Oshae Brissett scored 24 of his season-high 25 points in the second half and overtime and matched a season best with 14 rebounds for the Orange (9-1). Junior guard Frank Howard provided 19 points, nine assists and three steals. Howard's steal and bucket with one minute left were the final points of regulation.

Junior center Jessie Govan had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Hoyas (8-1), who entered as one of six undefeated teams in the country. Junior forward Marcus Derrickson recorded 14 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with 5:15 left. Sophomore guard Jagan Mosely provided a spark off the bench by matching a career high with 20 points for Georgetown, which was 2 of 17 from 3-point range.

Syracuse took the lead for good on the first possession of overtime on Battle's 3-pointer, and his second 3-point shot of the period made it 77-73 with 2:33 remaining.

In regulation, the Orange trimmed the deficit to 69-67 on Battle's 3-pointer with 1:30 remaining before Howard's key play. Govan missed a jumper on the ensuing possession and Syracuse missed three shots in the final 10 seconds of regulation.

The Hoyas led 28-24 at intermission after each team shot 10 for 27 from the field. Mosely entered with 13:19 left in the first half and provided 10 points. Battle scored 11 before intermission.

A 15-4 run spanning halftime gave Georgetown a 36-26 lead with 17:27 remaining. The Orange trimmed the deficit to 47-40 with 12:25 to go before the Hoyas scored six straight, beginning with freshman guard Jahvon Blair's 3-pointer.
