James Palmer scored 25 points, Anton Gil added a career-high 21 points off the bench, and Nebraska pulled away late for a 104-94 nonconference victory over Texas-San Antonio at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

After UTSA pulled into an 86-86 tie with 4:13 left on freshman guard Jhivvan Jackson's 3-pointer in transition, Nebraska reeled off nine points in a row to shake the Roadrunners. The hosts reached the 100-point mark for the first time since Dec. 19, 2005.

Palmer, a junior swingman, added seven rebounds. Gill, a senior guard, provided the first six points of the Cornhuskers' late run. Senior guard Evan Taylor (16 points), junior guard Glynn Watson Jr. (13 points) and sophomore forward Isaiah Roby (10 points) also hit double figures.

Nebraska made 37 of its school-record 50 free-throw attempts.

The Roadrunners (7-6), who trailed by 14 late in the first half, had a few chances to take the lead in the second half but couldn't maintain their red-hot shooting. The diminutive Jackson scored 26 points in 27 minutes off the bench, which included 5-of-10 accuracy on 3-pointers.

UTSA clung within 49-42 at halftime as the Roadrunners' bench accounted for 36 of their points. Jackson poured in 15 points as he mixed a pair of 3-pointers with multiple acrobatic drives to the rim. Nebraska native Deon Lyle chipped in three of his five 3-pointers before the break. He finished with 15 points.

Nebraska answered with its own microwave as Gill, who began his career as a Top 50 recruit with Louisville, canned three 3-pointers on his way to 13 first-half points.

UTSA hit 10 of its first 12 shots in the second half.

After Jackson's running 3-pointer in transition pulled the Roadrunners into an 86-86 tie, Nebraska coach Tim Miles called a timeout and then called Gill's number. The lefty sank a 3-pointer with Jackson in his face, then drew Jackson's fourth foul while attempting another 3-pointer. Gill sank all three free throws to give the Cornhuskers a 92-86 lead with 3:19 to play.
