COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- After Texas A&M scored its most points in nearly 30 years and drilled the most 3-pointers in school history, it's easy to understand why Tyler Davis enjoyed Wednesday night against Savannah State.

"I thought it was a fun game," he said. "They were shooting a lot of shots and we were shooting a lot of shots. They tried to zone us, but like I said it was fun watching the guys get up and down. We had some highlight plays, some cool dunks. It was a lot of fun watching that."

DJ Hogg scored 18 points, Davis and Tonny Trocha-Morelos notched double-doubles and No. 9 Texas A&M rolled over Savannah State 113-66 at Reed Arena.

The Aggies improved to 9-1 with two games left in the nonconference season before opening SEC play. A&M knocked down a school-record 16 3-pointers, took control with a 17-3 run before halftime and cruised in the second half on its way to the program's most points since the 1988-89 season.

The Aggies had seven players score in double figures, including all five starters, as coach Billy Kennedy emptied the bench liberally. A&M shot 50 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.

"It is always good from a coach's stand point to play a game like this where everyone gets to play and play well and everyone leaves with a big smile on their face," Kennedy said.

Davis racked up his second double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds in only 24 minutes. Trocha-Morelos scored 10, set a career high with seven assists and tied a career high with 13 rebounds.

Admon Gilder scored 15 and Duane Wilson added 14 points. Off the bench, JT Starks chipped in 12 points and Chris Collins had 10 points. Starks also had six boards.

The Aggies closed the first half with a 10-0 spurt as part of a 17-3 run to take a 52-33 lead into the break. Gilder had 13 points in the first half.

Savannah State (3-9) has lost three in a row. The Tigers, in the midst of one of the toughest nonconference schedules in the country, have games coming up against No. 21 Baylor, No. 16 Virginia and No. 2 Michigan State before beginning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.

"Our objective was to get through this nonconference schedule and compete in our conference," Tigers coach Horace Broadnax said. "A&M has some good talent out there. Hopefully they will compete extremely well in the SEC, they are in the top-10 right now.

"I understand that it's hard for them to get up for a team like us. I think they will fare very well against the Kentuckys and the Floridas of the league. I know they were short one guy but they looked real good."

Texas A&M leading rebounder Robert Williams sat out after suffering a concussion in practice Monday.

Javaris Jenkins paced Savannah State with 18 points, and knocked down four 3-points on 7-of-15 shooting. Dexter McClanahan and Zach Sellers each had 10 points.
