Louisiana guard Frank Bartley IV had 17 points to lead a balanced scoring effort in the Ragin' Cajuns' 80-71 win over Iowa in a first-round game of the Cayman Islands Classic on Monday.

JaKeenan Gant had 16 points and Bryce Washington added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Louisiana (3-1) at the 2,000-seat John Gray Gymnasium at the Cayman Islands.

Justin Miller had 14 points and Marcus Stroman produced a game-high 11 assists for the Ragin' Cajuns, who will face Wyoming game in a semifinal game Tuesday.

Iowa (3-1) will play in a consolation game Tuesday against South Dakota State game. The Hawkeyes were led by guards Isaiah Moss (career-high 24 points) and Jordan Bohannon (21). No other player was in double figures for Iowa, which shot 36.7 percent from the field.

Louisiana took a 37-17 lead at halftime, shooting 51.6 percent (16 of 31) and posting 12 assists while Iowa shot 25.9 percent (7 of 27) with 10 turnovers. Gant and Washington nearly outscored Iowa by then combining for 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.

The turning point was a 21-1 run by Louisiana that enabled the Ragin' Cajuns to take a 31-11 lead, culminating with 2:22 left in the first half on a Washington layup. The Hawkeyes missed nine straight field goals and committed six turnovers in that span.

Iowa, which trailed by as many as 24 points in the second half, cut the lead to nine points twice but couldn't get closer.

The Hawkeyes played without junior forward Nicholas Baer (7.5 points, 5.8 rebounds a game), who is out for a month with a broken left pinkie finger. Touted freshman guard Connor McCaffery, son of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery, has yet to play this season because of an ankle injury and most recently a bout of mononucleosis.
