Tennessee erupted for another big first-half run and overwhelmed High Point 84-53 on Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Volunteers scored 32 straight points during an 11 1/2-minute stretch of the first half, part of a 38-2 run that gave Tennessee a 45-9 lead 2:23 before halftime.

In an 88-53 win over Presbyterian on Friday, the Volunteers (2-0) had a 28-0 run.

Lamonte Turner made 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, leading four different Tennessee players with at least two made 3-pointers. Turner and Jordan Bone scored 16 points each to lead the Volunteers, and Grant Williams pulled down 12 rebounds.

Tennessee won the rebound battle 47-31.

Jahaad Proctor was the only bright spot for the Panthers (1-1). The sophomore guard scored 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting. The rest of the Panthers were a combined 13 of 47 from the floor.

Proctor made two free throws to tie the score at 7 before the Volunteers exploded.

Bone and Admiral Schofield were a combined 9 of 12 as Tennessee pushed the lead to 52-13 at the break.

High Point made just 5 of 23 first-half shots, quite a decline from its 60 percent shooting in Friday's 100-66 win over William & Mary. Proctor had nine of the Panthers' 13 points in the opening 20 minutes.

After a week off, the competition will be much stiffer for Tennessee.

The Volunteers will be in the Bahamas on Nov. 22 to face No. 19 Purdue in Round 2 of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. High Point hosts The Citadel on Saturday.
