Sophomore guard Justin Robinson delivered a game-high 22 points and eight assists with no turnovers to guide Virginia Tech to a 92-72 win over New Mexico on Thursday afternoon in a Wooden Legacy quarterfinal at Titan Gym in Fullerton, Calif.

The Hokies earned their first 4-0 start in four years on the strength of 50 percent shooting from the field, 45.8 percent from 3-point range and 95 percent at the line. Sophomore guard Ahmed Hill notched 18 points and senior forward Zach LeDay contributed 16 points and three steals for Virginia Tech, which faces Texas A&M (3-1) in semifinal action Friday afternoon.

Senior power forward Tim Williams stacked up 19 points and 11 rebounds for New Mexico (3-1). Junior guard Elijah Brown added 16 points for the Lobos, who'll meet Cal State Northridge (2-3) in consolation action Friday afternoon.

The Lobos and Hokies were knotted at 23 for 2 1/2 minutes before LeDay's 3-pointer with 5:53 left in the first half triggered a 9-0 Virginia Tech surge. Freshman forward Khadim Sy tipped in a Robinson miss, Robinson cashed a jumper and Hill canned two free throws to give the Hokies a 32-23 lead with 4:27 to go.

Virginia Tech boosted its lead to as much as 14 early in the second half on a Robinson 3-pointer and a free throw. New Mexico clawed within 54-47 on Brown's 3-pointer with 14:15 to play, but that served as the Lobos' last stand as the Hokies gradually pulled away.

Virginia Tech seized its first 20-point lead when LeDay stole an inbounds pass and lobbed it ahead to sophomore guard Chris Clarke for a breakaway jam with 5:23 to play.

New Mexico entered the game with just eight 3-pointers in its first three games -- and the team's inability to shoot from long range helped to prevent a comeback. The Lobos canned just 4 of 14 3-point attempts, which was an improvement on their 21.1 percent marksmanship in their first three games.
