Kansas State used an efficient offense and smothering defense in a 80-61 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay on Tuesday night in Manhattan, Kan.

It was the fourth time this season that the Wildcats have scored 80 or more points.

Kansas State (6-1) was led by Barry Brown with 18 points. Xavier Sneed added 14. Wesley Iwundu chipped in 11 and Carlbe Ervin had a career-high 10.

Green Bay (3-4) was led by Turner Botz with 11 points. He was the only member of the Phoenix to hit double figures. Charles Cooper and Kerem Kanter had seven points each.

The Wildcats scored the first eight points of the second half to erase any doubt of a Green Bay comeback. The run gave Kansas State a 16-point lead and the Phoenix never got within 10 points the rest of the contest. The Wildcats led by as many as 23 in the second half.

Kansas State shot 58.3 percent in the second half and ended up at 56.6. The Wildcats were 9 for 20 from 3-point range.

Their defense, which was good in the first half, was equally good in the second half. Green Bay was 11 of 29 in the second half and finished at 35.5 percent. The Phoenix were 7 of 27 from 3-point range.

Kansas State never trailed and led by as many as 16 points in the first half en route to a 37-29 advantage at intermission.

Brown was the only player in double figures with 11 points in the first half. Sneed added eight points.

The Wildcats shot 55.2 percent in the first half and their defense was just as good, holding Green Bay to 33 percent.

Botz and Warren Jones led the Phoenix with six points apiece in the first 20 minutes.
