Guard Sheldon McClellan scored 27 points and center Tonye Jekiri added 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Miami to a 90-66 upset victory over No. 16 Utah on Friday night.

The Hurricanes (4-0) will face No. 22 Butler in the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Sunday. The Utes will play Temple in the third-place game.

Forward Jordan Loveridge scored 18 points to lead Utah (3-1) and center Jakob Poeltl added 16 points and six rebounds. The Utes trailed by double digits throughout the second half.

Miami shot 53.4 percent (31 of 58) from the field and 52.9 percent (9 of 17) from the perimeter.

Utah committed 16 turnovers and Miami took full advantage of the sloppiness. The Hurricanes outscored the Utes 23-4 on points off of turnovers.

Miami used hot shooting and strong defense to take control before halftime. The Hurricanes shot 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the field before halftime. Miami also forced 11 turnovers and scored 16 points off those Utah miscues.

The Hurricanes scored the game's first seven points and made baskets or free throws on six straight possessions at one point. Jekiri capped that spurt with a layup, giving Miami a 21-12 lead with 11:43 left in the first half.

Miami pushed its lead to 14 points four different times before halftime. The final run came after Loveridge made a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws to fuel a 9-2 run that cut the Hurricane lead to 39-32 with 1:26 left in the half.

Miami forced three turnovers to fuel a 7-0 run over that final 1:26. James Palmer capped the run with a 3-pointer, giving the Hurricanes a 46-32 halftime lead.

Utah struggled to trim the deficit in the second half. The Utes cut it to 10 points when Loveridge drained a 3-pointer to make it 62-52 with 9:37 left. Miami answered with a 13-3 run, capped by a layup from McClellan, to take a 75-55 lead with 5:17 remaining.
