Center Jakob Poeltl scored 21 points and forward Jordan Loveridge added 18 points to help Utah pull away from IPFW for a 96-79 victory on Saturday at Salt Lake City.

Forward Kyle Kuzma chipped in 16 points and guard Lorenzo Bonam added 15 points off the bench for Utah. The Utes (7-1) shot 38 of 61 (62.3 percent) from the field and outscored the Mastadons 50-30 in the paint to win their 25 straight nonconference home game.

Guard Mo Evans scored 26 points and guard Max Landis added 16 points to lead the Mastadons. IPFW (7-3) shot 13 of 27 (48.1 percent) from 3-point range, but it was not enough to earn the school's first-ever win over a Pac-12 team.

IPFW used a 9-0 run to charge in front of Utah early in the first half. The Mastadons opened the game by making 8 of their first 11 shots and the hot shooting put the Utes on their heels early. Evans ran off three straight baskets to give IPFW the lead and then forward Joe Reed capped the spurt with a layup to put the Mastadons ahead 18-11.

The Utes answered with a 12-2 run, retaking the lead on a 3-pointer from Kuzma and going up 23-20 on a jumper from guard Brandon Taylor. Utah eventually built up a six-point lead in the final minute before halftime, but Evans beat the buzzer with a 3-pointer to cut the Utes' lead to 39-36 going into the locker room.

IPFW tied it up 44-44 on 3-pointers from Evans and guard Max Landis early in the second half. Utah started attacking the rim and came to life offensively. The Utes ripped off a 15-3 run, culminating in a 3-point play from forward Brekkott Chapman, to take their first double-digit lead at 59-47.

Utah eventually pushed its lead to 96-70 on a 3-pointer from guard Jake Connor with 1:37 remaining.
