Miami (Fla.) 89, Boston College 86 (2OT): Sheldon McClellan scored 24 points and Tonye Jekiri hit four critical free throws in the second overtime as the Hurricanes outlasted the host Eagles in a game pushed back a day due to heavy snowfall in the Northeast.

Jekiri recorded 15 rebounds and four blocks to go along with 12 points for Miami (16-9, 6-6 ACC), which shot 11-of-24 beyond the arc en route to its 10th straight win in this series. Davon Reed tied a personal best with 19 points while Deandre Burnett added 13 and Manu Lecomte 10 to power the Hurricanes to their second victory in the last six contests.

Olivier Hanlan tallied a season-high 32 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals for Boston College (9-15, 1-11), which suffered its sixth straight defeat. Patrick Heckmann had 13 points but missed a potential game-winning layup in the first overtime while Aaron Brown, Dennis Clifford and Will Magarity chipped with 10 points apiece for the Eagles.

Burnett drilled two 3-pointers during a 13-5 run as Miami pulled in front 60-59 with 3½ minutes remaining in regulation, starting a sequence in which the lead traded hands five times in two minutes. A pair of free throws from Lecomte staked the Hurricanes to a three-point edge with 58 seconds left, but BC countered with three foul shots to force it into overtime.

The Eagles pulled ahead 75-71 with 24 seconds left on a dunk by Clifford, but Burnett answered with a three-point play on the other end and added two free throws to tie it with 11 seconds remaining before Heckmann missed a point-blank finger-roll with five seconds to go to send it into another overtime. Hanlan’s layup with two minutes left evened it for the third time in the second overtime at 82-82, but Jekiri hit four free throws while Lecomte and Burnett combined for three more over the final 23 seconds.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Miami G Angel Rodriguez was assessed a contact deadball technical with just under a minute left to play in regulation when his elbow inadvertently struck BC G Dimitri Batten in the nose. Batten, who was charged with a blocking foul on the play, later returned to the floor and scored three points in the two overtimes. … McClellan went 8-of-15 from the field, helping the Hurricanes improve to 12-0 when he shoots at least 50 percent. … Four of the Eagles’ setbacks during their losing streak in this series are by four points or fewer, including two by one point.
