TCU 61, Mississippi State 52: Chris Washburn scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Horned Frogs to the win over the Bulldogs in the Corpus Christi Coastal Classic championship game.

Amric Fields added 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting for TCU (7-0), while Kenrich Williams chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Horned Frogs won despite shooting 16.7 percent from 3-point range and 51.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Fred Thomas led Mississippi State (5-1) with 14 points, while Gavin Ware and Trivante Bloodman each chipped in 11 points. The Bulldogs were hurt by 3-of-10 shooting from 3-point range.

TCU jumped out quickly, grabbing a 7-2 lead less than five minutes into the contest, but the Bulldogs came right back and the game was tied three times in the first half, the last being at 17 with 3:50 to play. But down 19-17, the Horned Frogs closed on a 13-2 run, capped by Brandon Parrish's layup at the buzzer for a nine-point halftime advantage.

Trey Zeigler scored the second half's first four points to push the lead to 13, as the Horned Frogs stayed comfortably in the lead for must of the final 20 minutes. The Bulldogs cut it to an five-point game with 3:38 to go on Thomas' 3-pointer, but TCU hit nine free throws down the stretch to hold off the rally attempt.

GAME NOTEBOOK: TCU won the rebound battle, 37-33. … The Bulldogs connected on just 11-of-20 from the free-throw line. … Mississippi State had just three assists on its 19 field goals.
